Jeff and Paula's triumphant return to Estacada Lake.

Paula and I returned to Estacada Lake this morning with the canoe. It started to rain before we took any good pictures, and I had to put my iphone in my tackle box so it didn’t get all wet. Needless to say, it was action-packed! We got off to a shaky start! I lost my hot lure from last week on the first damn cast, and Paula benched her hot lure soon afterward. No problem, we each found new hot lures today, mine was the Red Devil, and Paula’s was the Barbie Lure. Both were Wedding Rings tipped with Nightcrawler.

I got the first two before Paula hooked up. Then, I picked up a third. Paula then went on a three fish streak and was threatening to limit out and win the day! We decided to make one last troll on our way out, and right as we were making the turn, I got a quick nibble and decided to set the hook (since we had been getting drive by’s all morning) and picked up my fourth! Tied at four fish apiece, we trolled down the lake, making our way back, we ran through a school, and I hooked up! While I was pulling in my fish, Paula hooked up! DOUBLE!! Both of us limited out at the same time! That was awesome! Since we ended in a tie, I still lead the “Jeff and Paula Estacada Lake Series” 1-0…

For those who don’t remember Estacada Lake, here was the post from last weekend where we took the canoe for its first trip into these strange new waters:

Another random thought: “Hmmm… What are we going to do with all of these trout?”
