Happy Birthday to our Horse, Slider

2/12/2009 was Slider’s Birthday!  Paula took a few pictures of him wearing his birthday hat.  Here’s the rest of Paula’s Horse Birthday Party photo shoot:

Here is our big camera ham, showing his best side to the camera.  He’s now 10 years old, which is about regular adult age for a horse!  He actually likes wearing this party hat!  He’s just looking around for presents from his Quarter Moon Ranch horse buddies and other party-goers!

Grass is just as good as Birthday Cake for Horses

Here’s our horse all dressed up with his birthday halter and party hat, ready for the celebration!  Even though Slider would eat a birthday cake if we gave him one, he settled for grass this time.  I guess this is as normal as we can get with our zany horse.

Birthday Jolly Ball--NOM

After Slider has had a few birthday treats, off comes the halter and he’s ready for some fun!  Here’s the birthday boy with his new Jolly Ball!  He really likes biting it!

Jazz Wearing Birthday Party Hat

Paula is also no amateur when it comes to taking pictures of horses in birthday party hats!  This picture of Jazz made it all around the Internet and back!  As you can see, Jazz does not look as thrilled as Slider when it comes to horse birthday hat photo shoots!

Here are a few videos of Jeff and Slider playing horse soccer at Quarter Moon Ranch.  Slider has gotten the hang of playing horse soccer and is actually quite good.  We’re able to dribble the horse soccer ball all the way down the field and through the cone goals.  Paula worked at getting him to kick the soccer ball, but when I tried it on Slider, that horse took it up a notch and we were booting the ball around like crazy!

Now we’re having some fun!  You’ve seen televised soccer matches where the Spanish-speaking announcer is calling the game, and someone scores and he shouts GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!!!!!! while the players run around doing a victory lap in celebration?  Well, this is the horse soccer version!
